The sky will be the center stage this March 9, 2016 because we will witness once again a partial solar eclipse here in the Philippines. We’re so lucky this year that the solar eclipse event will pass by our country and it is viewable from Luzon to Mindanao for an almost 2 1/2 hours.

So set up your sun glasses, solar filters, xray films and tinted glass window as your friendly tool to view this astro event. Just don’t stare at the sun directly to observe the solar eclipse, make sure you wear eye protection when viewing the solar event. Looking directly at the sun can damage your eyes and it can blind you permanently. So be careful when viewing it.

Take note that the solar eclipse event will start at 7:51am in Manila, 7:59 in Laoag, 7:54am in Baguio, 7:41am in Davao and 7:36am in Jolo.

I lived in Cavite, so Im going to follow the schedule for Manila, Thanks to James Kevin Ty for providing an info about the solar eclipse event.

In Manila and nearby cities, we will witness the full partial eclipse at around 8:59am. The moon will pass slowly infront of the sun and it will cover the sun’s ray for a few minutes.

In Jolo and Davao, they might experience some darkening of the sky during the solar eclipse, because the solar eclipse in that area covers mostly half of the sun. That view will be a glorious feat of the two heavenly body, we wont be having a full solar eclipse yet here in the country, just like back in late 80s, so lets appreciate a partial of it later morning.
